Oahu, Hawaii - 2015
Back in 2015, I had the pleasure of visiting the stunning island of Oahu, Hawaii. This trip was filled with unforgettable experiences, breathtaking views, and a taste of Hawaiian culture. Here’s a recap of my journey!
Arrival in Paradise
The moment we stepped off the plane, we were greeted with warm Hawaiian hospitality. Locals welcomed us with traditional lei necklaces and cheerful “Aloha” greetings. It was the perfect start to our adventure! We stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, a gorgeous resort right on Waikiki Beach. The lush tropical landscaping and lagoon-like pools made it feel like its own paradise.

Exploring Hanauma Bay
One of the highlights of the trip was visiting Hanauma Bay, a stunning nature preserve known for its crystal-clear waters and vibrant coral reefs. Located on the southeastern coast of Oahu, Hanauma Bay is a volcanic crater that was transformed into a marine sanctuary.
This spot is famous for snorkeling, but while we didn't snorkel on this visit, we enjoyed a tour of the area. Fun fact: Hanauma Bay was declared a protected marine life conservation area in 1967, which helps maintain its ecological balance. The views of the turquoise waters and surrounding cliffs were absolutely breathtaking!

Hiking Diamond Head Crater
Another unforgettable adventure was hiking up Diamond Head Crater, one of Oahus most iconic landmarks. This extinct volcanic crater offers incredible panoramic views of Honolulu and the Pacific Ocean. The trail was rocky but manageable, taking about an hour to hike up and another hour to come back down.
Did you know that Diamond Head was formed over 300,000 years ago during a single explosive eruption? Its name comes from British sailors who mistakenly thought they found diamonds in the rocks! While the diamond’s turned out to be calcite crystals, the hike was a true treasure.

Indulging in Local Delights
No trip to Hawaii is complete without savoring the local cuisine! We ate so much incredible food during our stay, from fresh poke bowls to traditional Hawaiian plate lunches with kalua pork and poi. Exploring the local villages also gave us a chance to connect with the island’s culture and meet some wonderful people.
Looking Back & Looking Ahead
Unfortunately, since it was 2015, I don't have too many photos from this trip to share here. However, I revisited Oahu in 2021 and took plenty of pictures during that trip. Be sure to check out my Oahu 2021 blog for more visuals and details about this magical destination!
This trip to Oahu will always hold a special place in my heart. The breathtaking landscapes, warm hospitality, and unforgettable adventures made it a journey to remember.
