Museum of the Bible - Washington D.C 2023
A Rainy but Rewarding Road Trip to Washington, D.C.

There’s nothing quite like a road trip to Washington, D.C. The four-hour drive from New Jersey has become familiar to us over the years, as we’ve visited the national’s capital multiple times. But this time, our journey had a new purpose something beyond the usual iconic landmarks. While we still admired the grandeur of the U.S. Capitol, the Washington Monument, and the Lincoln Memorial, we were there to experience something different: the Museum of the Bible.
Exploring D.C.’s Iconic Landmarks
Before diving into our new adventure, we couldn’t resist stopping at some of D.C.’s most famous sites. Despite the rainy and chilly October weather, we bundled up and made the most of our time.
The U.S. Capitol - the seat of the United States Congress, the Capitol Building stands as a powerful symbol of democracy. Its impressive neoclassical architecture never fails to captivate, and even from the outside, you can feel the weight of history and decision-making that takes place within its halls.
The Washington Monument - Towering at 555 feet, this obelisk is dedicated to George Washington, the nation’s first president. It remains the tallest stone structure in the world, and despite the cloudy skies, its sheer presence was breathtaking.
The Lincoln Memorial- This tribute to Abraham Lincoln is always a humbling experience. The massive seated statue of Lincoln, surrounded by inscriptions of his famous speeches, reminds visitors of the sacrifices made for unity and equality. Standing on those steps, you can’t help but reflect on the momentous events that have taken place there, including Martin Luther King Jr.’s “ I Have a Dream” speech.

The museum spans 430,000 square feet across multiple floors, each one offering a rich and immersive experience. From the moment we entered, we were surrounded by engaging exhibits that brought the Bible to life. Some of the most memorable highlights included:
Interactive Visuals & Art- The museum features ancient texts in English, Hebrew, and Aramaic, allowing visitors to see the Bible’s historical evolution.
Life-Size Biblical Village - Walking through recreated towns from biblical times made us feel like we had stepped back in history.
Audio & Video Storytelling- Every corner of the museum had something fascinating to watch or listen to, helping us understand the deep cultural and religious significance of the Bible.
Statues & Exhibits- We saw beautifully crafted representations of biblical figures and events, making our visit even more engaging.
We also had lunch at Milk & Honey, the museum’s café, which offered a cozy break before we continued exploring.

A Future Faith-Filled Trip: Noah’s Ark in Kentucky
While our D.C. trip was incredible, it reminded us of another Christian experience we have yet to check off our bucket list: Noah’s Ark in Kentucky. This life-sized replica of the biblical ark is an attraction we can’t wait to visit. It’s a testament to the incredible story of faith, survival, and God’s promise, making it a must-see for Christians, Catholics, and Jewish visitors alike.
Final Thoughts
Despite the rainy weather, our road trip to Washington, D.C., was one for the books. The Museum of the Bible exceeded our expectations, offering a deeply personal and faith-affirming experience. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend adding it to your itinerary. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning for a new adventure, D.C. always has something inspiring to offer. And as for Noah’s Ark? That’s next on our list!
Until our next road trip, stay blessed!
